Climbing for a Cause

Join Elevated Mountain Guides for a 24-hours of climbing, community, games, prizes, food, and FUN!!! Your $20 donation will include all-day entry and equipment rentals at Momentum Indoor Climbing Millcreek for the entire event.  Individuals who meet their suggested fundraising goal of $250 will not only sponsor one full day of outdoor climbing programming for a participant in one of our local programs, they will also receive a radical prize!  Join us!

Who can participate?  Anyone!  Project Climb and Embark Outdoors participants and alumni, students, teachers, friends, family, community members, outfitters, corporate partners, medical providers, fellow climbers & adventure lovers are invited to participate in the 2019 Climbathon. 100% of funds raised support Project Climb and Embark Outdoors expanding accessibility to outdoor recreation for youth and refugees in Salt Lake and Summit Counties.

How it works:

Registration opens at 5 pm on July 19th with the Climbathon officially kicking off at 6pm. The event goes all night long until the next day at 6pm! Momentum will be open to the public for this event during their normal business hours but will remain open to our participants from 11pm-10am. Come for all or part of the 24-hours!

Your registration allows you access to both days! No membership required!

Climb with a team, come solo to boulder, or come solo and we’ll find you a partner!

Awards will be presented to those teams, and individuals, who climb the most, who raise the most funds for EMG by pledging donations, and to the few who decide to climb for 24-hours straight!

We’ll have food, games, and raffles all day and all night, and wrap up the event on July 20th at 6 pm with the award ceremony. Full Schedule of events (including workshops and special guests) to follow soon!!!!

It doesn’t end there! Join us for the after party (TBD)!

Rules:

  • No restrictions on grade or length of route. However, participants are only allowed to climb each route twice per hour to ensure we give everyone access to all routes.

  • All participants climbing on ropes must be belay certified. Momentum offers belay certification every hour on the hour for a fee, however we will be offering two free belay lessons for this event, one at 5pm on Friday and another at 10am on Saturday.

  • All participants and spectators (regardless of age) MUST fill out a Momentum waiver if they intend to walk past the front desk area.

  • All beverages (except water) must stay off of all the padded areas. Anyone violating this will be personally responsible for cleaning fees incurred if anything is spilled.

  • Down-climbing counts as a route. If downclimbing on lead, climbers MUST unclip draws on their way down.

  • All routes must be signed off and witnessed by another.

  • Registration must be completed by July 18th to qualify for a competition shirt. Shirts will be available for purchase onsite for those registering day-of the event.

  • All Momentum Indoor Climbing rules apply and therefore anyone under the age of 14 must be accompanied by and adult at all times.
