2022 Fundraising Recap!

Thank you for an amazing and FUN fundraising season!

Over the past few months, we've participated in three fundraising events: our Mini-Climbathon at the Lehi Momentum on July 30th, the Murray Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Gala on October 1st in downtown SLC, and Live PC Give PC on November 4th Park City. And here's how they went...

Starting with the most recent, Live PC Give PC concluded on November 5th, raising a total of $4,377. Thanks to JH Real-estate, Adam Jackman and the Expert Solar Advisors, and the Hamilton Family, we raised $1500 in "Challenge Grants" allowing us to double the first $1500 in donations! We would also like to thank our dedicated volunteers for braving the weather to literally move mountains on the streets, and the Scott and Cheri Beck Fund for the additional offline donation!

“The Gala" was a great opportunity for us to get fancy and spread our message to a whole new demographic. We were one of three local non-profits highlighted this year, including Yellow for Life and the Murray Area Children's Food Pantry! The just over $2300 in donations we received will be directed towards 2033 outdoor programming for our Salt Lake City programs (TBD).

Our first fundraising opportunity this year was our (first ever) 12-Hour MINI Climbathon, hosted by Momentum Lehi, we saw roughly 200 participants climb, plank, play, and shoe-toss their way to a host of prizes (including our coveted EMG trophies)! Thanks to Ali from Radiantly Rooted, Jo from Converge PT, and our own Nikki McGee for the fun and educational workshops, to our sponsors (below), to Momentum Lehi for hosting, and especially to our volunteers, we really appreciate all your hard work!

NOW WHAT?

As we look forward to Spring and Summer 2023 programming and being able to offer even more trauma-informed climbing opportunities for our local underserved communities, we wanted to let you, our partners, and donors, know how your contributions make a huge difference in our ability to operate. There are so many things we can grant-write for, but so very many costs we just cannot. These include paying our staff/guides, and their education and certifications. For example, each of our lead guides is required to have an SPI ("Single Pitch Instructor") as well as a current WFR ("wilderness first responder") certification, both of which are incredibly time-consuming and costly. In addition, the overhead costs associated with running a business, however small we may be, are typically not something we can get grants to cover. We also use your donations for our transportation needs, as this has been another area we have yet to find grants to support. There's lots more, but you get the idea. Every penny goes into our programs or programming in some way, if sometimes indirectly.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to keeping our outdoor spaces accessible and inclusive! If you feel moved by our mission and want to contribute monetarily please click the donate button below. Whether you donate money, time, or spread our message, we appreciate you!

Warmly,

Nikki McGee
